Primary Ascent
[ 01 — CLIMB SELECTION ]Platteklip Gorge
The most direct route to the summit. A giant Stone Staircase that tests endurance over technical skill. Note: Highly exposed to the afternoon sun; hydration is non-negotiable.
India Venster
For those comfortable with heights. This route follows the path directly beneath the Cableway, involving scrambling and steep technical sections. Offers the best views of the Atlantic Coast.
Route Methodology
Difficulty ratings are seasonally adjusted. A 'Moderate' climb in summer becomes 'Demanding' during winter wet-rock conditions.
Alternative: Skeleton Gorge
The 'Green' route. Starts in Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden. Ideal for summer climbs due to canopy cover.

Non-Negotiable Rules
Table Mountain is deceptive. Within thirty minutes, clear sunshine leaves you trapped in a 'tablecloth' cloud with zero visibility.
Water Control
Zero water sources exist on the Platteklip Gorge trail. You must carry 2-3 liters minimum per person during summer months (+28°C).
Cloud Protocol
If the 'Tablecloth' cloud cover descends, stop moving immediately if you lose the trail markings. Visibility drops to under 5 meters.
Descending Path
The Cableway closes in high wind. Always plan your hike with enough daylight to walk back down if the cars stop running.
